What Is It?
Easton Hockey uses WordPress as a CMS along with many WordPress plug-ins and some of No Diamonds’ own customizations to create a product catalog website with social networking capabilities for this leader in sports equipment. Like all WordPress sites, EastonHockey.com can be updated by website team members with no technical expertise.
Why It’s In Our Portfolio
Easton Hockey can edit the majority of content themselves, such as:
- Add a new product or player,
- Edit the promotion boxes,
- Publish news items,
- Create new pages in multiple languages, or
- Create forms to run sweepstakes
Plus No Diamonds’ customizations give the site many more useful features:
- Each product detail page allows the site user to manipulate zoomed images via a Flash object.
- Each product includes videos and shows which professional hockey players use that particular product. No Diamonds customized the product page to automatically associate a particular product with, for example, a hockey player that uses it or a community member who likes it.
- No Diamonds developed a custom video plugin for WordPress that automatically creates thumbnail and uses the FFmpeg codec to convert videos to web standard video.
- We installed and customized BuddyPress, a social networking software (an extension of WordPress) for Easton Hockey’s My Easton. Registered users can log in to, upload and save their favorite videos, subscribe to and contribute to different hockey discussion groups and connect via their Facebook account. Users can customize their page according to what type of hockey enthusiast they are (another No Diamonds customization).
- Users can also choose and rate the Easton Hockey gear they own.
